World Philosophy Day 2026 Malaysia to Bring Global Thinkers to Kuala Lumpur for “Wasiat Pemimpin Melayu”

Conference on 19 November will examine how philosophy can sustain Malay civilisation, with international delegates from the World Philosophical Forum.

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – The World Philosophical Forum Malaysia Organization (WPF Malaysia) today announced World Philosophy Day 2026 Malaysia, a conference themed “Sustaining Malay Civilisation Through Philosophy”, to be held on Thursday, 19 November 2026 at the Grand Ballroom, Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

World Philosophy Day is an international observance proclaimed by UNESCO and celebrated annually on the third Thursday of November. The 2026 Malaysian edition places that global tradition in a distinctly Malay and Islamic civilisational context, under the title Wasiat Pemimpin Melayu (The Testament of Malay Leaders).

About the Theme

A wasiat here is not a division of property. It is the knowledge, dignity and sense of direction that a generation chooses to pass on. The conference is built around five pillars: Land & Sovereignty, Poverty & Knowledge, Economy, Faith, and Culture & Identity. It closes with a “Reflection & From Dialogue to Action” session, and the programme is linked to the Arkib Pemikiran Melayu, an archive intended to preserve the ideas shared.

“Philosophy is not an abstraction — it is how nations decide who they will become.”— Prof. Dr. Igor Kondrashin, President/CEO, World Philosophical Forum

Speakers

The Special Address will be delivered by Prof. Dr. Igor Kondrashin, and the keynote by Prof. Dr. Solehah Yaacob, Professor (h.c.) of Linguistic Thought & Civilisation. Conference speakers are Prof. Dr. Supyan Hussin (Institute of Ethnic Studies, UKM), Dr. Haji Mohd Fadir Embong (Institute of Al-Quranic Philosophy), Dr. Mohammad Nizar Mat Nor (Chairman, WPF Malaysia), Dato’ Abu Bakar As-Sidek Mohd Sidek (Yayasan Madina) and Tn. Haji Ghazali Ismail (Advocate & Solicitor). Delegates from the World Philosophical Forum will join from Russia, Greece, Peru, Indonesia, India, Yemen and Nigeria.

“Privilege without purpose builds nothing.”— Dr. Mohammad Nizar Mat Nor, Chairman, WPF Malaysia
